THE DRAGONTAMER'S DJINN

Character: Teran is a boy who tried to cheat his studies at a Dragon Masters' Academy by stealing a summoning pact that would allow him to beg the assistance of elemental fae. (A wind or earth fae would buy him the vitality to walk into their territory to seek their allegiance) Unfortunately, he found the remnant of the first Dragontamer woven in the scroll's incantation, and beckoned him to the mortal realm instead. After a spiritual feud determining who would be permitted to stay in his body, an agreement was reached and a contract was written. The Dragontamer could take over Teran's body at night, while the boy's mind rested. In return, the Dragontamer would allow Teran to master enough of his craft to pass his courses. Unfortunately, too much of the Dragontamer's art bled into Teran. The boy can no longer mutter a word of human speech, and instead poisons the air with the wyverns' arrogant tongue. To fight this, he carves a fresh binding rune to his chest and wears a scarf over his face, to prevent his words from deafening his classmates.

The Academy chooses to keep Teran enrolled, for while his actions threaten the groundwork upon which the school was founded (a Dragoon founded the school hundreds of years ago), training a mortal diplomat to actually confer with the wyverns hierarchy would be very beneficial to their prince.

Evolved from a failed commission. XD She's getting another image, but she told me that this sketch was too good to trash, so I kept working with a general idea.
