Just a really quick gesture advice tutorial for those new to the concept. I found it hard to explain in person, so from now on I'll just keep a copy of this to send them in email.
Again, if you have anything you wanna add, tell me! ^^
My gestures are teh sucky, but oh well XD You get the idea.
My first time at gesture drawing was really weird. Drawing a figure in 5 to 10 seconds is mind blowing in the beginning, but it can be so fun once you get used to it! I tend to do a wire-frame type thing when I'm unsure about doing a certain pose. Otherwise I like using nice flowing contour lines, especially when proportion isn't exactly the main idea in the assignment and if I'm using charcoal. Line variation is also really good when defining dark and light areas ^_^. But that gets more into gesture drawings as completed pieces rather than outlines for a drawing . Man, I'm ready to start college and get back into those figure drawing classes! xD It improves skillz so much in such a short time!
LOL, yeah, the point is.. dont worry about massing in too much detail. XD Just get the main picture. It's hard, though. We all have this desire to perfect the rough sketch.
